Elon Musk and Trump's Unlikely Connection: A Conversation on EVs and Cybertruck

By Christopher M. Uhl

So, here’s a fun tidbit: Elon Musk recently mentioned during a Tesla shareholder meeting that former President Donald Trump calls him out of the blue. Imagine getting random calls from Trump! Musk says these chats are pretty friendly, covering everything from electric vehicles (EVs) to the future of America’s car industry.

Now, Musk is a pretty divisive figure, much like Trump. But he shared that many of Trump’s friends are big Tesla fans, and even Trump himself is into the Cybertruck. Musk loves the Cybertruck too. He owns a Model Y Performance and thinks the Cybertruck is super cool. Funny story—when he told his wife he wanted one, she flat out refused, saying she'd never be seen in it. Looks like a Cybertruck won’t be joining their garage anytime soon!

What’s even more intriguing is the possibility of a Musk-Trump alliance. There’s talk that if Trump wins the next election, he might offer Musk an advisory role in the White House. Opinions are all over the place on this one. Some folks think it’s great for business and the economy, while others worry Musk is spreading himself too thin with all his ventures.

Speaking of which, Musk’s plate is pretty full. He’s juggling SpaceX, Neuralink, and of course, Tesla. Some people think he should focus more on one thing to be even more successful. Tesla’s stock has been on a rollercoaster ride, hitting highs of $400 back in 2021 and then dropping to $144 in 2023 before bouncing back a bit.

Despite the ups and downs, Tesla is still a big deal in the EV world. Investors are always on their toes, waiting for Musk’s next big move. Whether it’s chatting with Trump about Cybertrucks or launching new tech, Musk keeps everyone guessing and talking.
